Ken Griffey Jr. retired on Wednesday in the middle of what was a rough season for the future Hall of Famer. Seattle manager Don Wakamatsu benched Griffey last month and two teammates told The News Tribune that the icon was sleeping inside the clubhouse during a game. "Certainly, that stung him," Griffey's agent Brian Goldberg told The Associated Press. Goldberg said that Griffey plans to work for the Mariners in the near future.
