Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez and bullpen coach Randy Niemann had to be separated on Sunday night after an apparent disagreement on how the pitcher is being used. The confrontation was in full view of fans and the disagreement was broken up by New York's other relievers. Rodriguez later went into the game and after a bit of a struggle, struck out Alex Rodriguez to earn his eighth save of the season. "We were just fooling around," K-Rod said after the game. "We were just kidding with each other."
