Miguel Cabrera on Thursday said that he hasn't had a drink since a domestic disturbance incident after a night of drinking during the final week of the season and that he went through three months of counseling during the winter.
Meeting with the media before the annual luncheon that kicks off the Detroit portion of the Tigers' annual caravan, Cabrera was apologetic for the incident that occurred on the last Saturday of the season when the Tigers needed just one more victory to clinch the American League Central title.
"I know it will take a while (for the fans to forgive him), but I won't let them down again," he said. "But I feel like a new man.
"I'm happy. My family's happy, everything is good."
