The Angels are entering the race to sign free-agent Cuban pitcher Aroldis Chapman, according to ESPN.com.
The report notes that the Angels may have an "inside edge" because Chapman is friends with first baseman Kendry Morales, who also defected from Cuba.
"Selfishly, we're a nice fit. It's hard to come over here, and Kendry gives him some idea of the pitfalls of the adjustments," Angels scouting director Eddie Bane said. "It's a fit, but who knows? It depends on the price."
