The Mariners surprised some by offering free-agent third baseman Adrian Beltre arbitration on Tuesday. Beltre was the only one of Seattle's free agents to be offered arbitration. They declined to do so for pitcher Erik Bedard. "Any player that's a free agent, you can negotiate with any one of them," general manager Jeff Zduriencik said. "He's no different than any other player who's a free agent now. We can continue to talk to him. We haven't shut the door on any players. All we've done is go through the process and the parameters that are available under the collective bargaining agreement." Beltre hit .265 with eight home runs and 44 RBIs in 111 games this past season.
