The Mets now are expected to meet with Aroldis Chapman, the 21-year-old Cuban defector, and the pitcher's agent later this week, a person familiar with the situation said yesterday.
Chapman, who declared citizenship in Andorra to become a free agent, arrived in New York on Wednesday, according to ESPN.com, and also will meet with the Yankees during this visit.
One major-league official told Newsday on Wednesday that Chapman's price would be closer to the $15.1-million deal that Stephen Strasburg, the top pick in this year's draft, received from the Nationals.
