The Rockies have told closer Huston Street that they want to discuss a long-term contract at the end of the season.
Street is in his final year of salary arbitration. The Denver Post writes that it would take a three-year deal in the range of $25 million to get discussions going.
"He's got such a quiet confidence and great character. He left Oakland and turned into what he always wanted to be," former A's closer Dennis Eckersley told the Denver Post of Street.
"What I really like about him is that he's got great control. He can paint with his fastball, and more than anything he's got guts. He wants the big stage."
