The Rays have fallen short of their goal of defending their AL East crown this season, but manager Joe Maddon doesn't think their run is over. "As we get into winter time," Maddon told the St. Petersburg Times, "it's going to be important and pertinent we are able to identify properly and put together for next year the team that's going to win the division title, which I believe we will." The Rays are 19 1/2 games behind the Yankees in the AL East and 12 1/2 games behind the Red Sox in the AL Wild Card race.
