Rice was asked which modern players are worthy of the Hall of Fame and he mentioned Ichiro Suzuki, Ken Griffey and Jim Thome. Yankee beat writer Peter Abraham responded angrily and appropriately. "Reality to Jim Rice: Jeter was at the center of four World Series champions (four more than you were) and has never once been accused of being anything but a team player," wrote Abraham.
