Pedro Martinez will become a member of the Phillies if he passes a physical. A baseball source confirmed Monday that Martinez will fly from the Dominican Republic to Philadelphia and take a physical Monday or Tuesday. If Martinez passes, he could sign a deal with the Phillies in the next few days. The Phillies watched Martinez, 37, throw twice last week at their baseball academy in the Dominican. They came away impressed both times.
