The Pittsburgh Pirates today agreed to terms with two non-drafted free agents.
Eighteen-year-old catcher Dylan Child from Australia agreed to terms with the Pirates on a 2009 contract as a non-drafted free agent. The 6-foot-1, 181-pound catcher recently converted from shortstop to catcher.
Child will begin his career at the Major League Baseball Academy in Australia this year.
Sixteen-year-old right-handed pitcher Dovydas Neverauskas from Lithuania agreed to terms on a 2010 contract as a non-drafted free agent. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound righthander will begin his professional career this fall in the Florida Instructional League program and in the 2010 Pirates minor league spring training camp.
