Indians general manager Mark Shapiro is trying to improve via trades, but on a smaller scale than some of his competitors. White Sox GM Kenny Williams has been trying to swing a deal for Padres pitcher Jake Peavy. Shapiro has prospects to deal and will discuss anyone other than Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez, but time is running out. Cleveland is nearly ten games out of first place in the AL Central, and Shapiro may have to begin trading away salaries because the team's payroll can't get any higher. The Indians already have between $80 million and $85 million committed for 2010.
