The White Sox are expected to send veteran pitcher Jose Contreras down to the minor leagues to work out his problems. Contreras is 0-5 with an 8.19 ERA in six games this season. "I feel fine," Contreras said. "In spring training, most of the things I did were for conditioning for [his torn Achilles]. Now I have to pitch. I have to get a feel for the forkball again and throw strikes. There's nothing wrong physically." Chicago had been deciding whether to send Contreras to the minors, place him on the disabled list or move him to the bullpen. Clayton Richard will come out of the bullpen and replace Contreras in the team's starting rotation. "[Richard is] our future and will be a starter in a few years," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "He's the best we have in the bullpen right now for the job, and I like lefties against Cleveland."
