DALLAS // The Orioles have made their first move of the winter meetings, trading left-handed reliever Steve Kline to the San Francisco Giants for right-handed reliever LaTroy Hawkins, a club source confirmed this afternoon. The trade, which is expected to be announced later today, is an exchange of two relievers who have struggled recently. Hawkins will be used in a setup role initially, a club source said, but "could be insurance" if the club has to rely on 23-year-old Chris Ray to close games. Hawkins, who turns 33 this month, was 2-8 with a combined 3.83 ERA in 66 games. He started the season as the Cubs closer and had six saves in 2005. Kline, signed last offseason, was 2-4 with a 4.28 ERA in 67 games in relief.
