Jason Schmidt, who has been a huge bust after signing a huge contract with the Dodgers, just wants to get back out on the mound and pitch. Los Angeles manager Joe Torre says that Schmidt is no longer a candidate to begin the season as the team's fifth starter. Schmidt is still tentative on the mound with his surgically repaired right shoulder, needs extra rest and still isn't able to significantly increase his pitch count. "I'm just trying to get out there and get on the mound," Schmidt said. "I'm not thinking about Opening Day or five days from then. I'm just thinking about eventually getting back into a game in L.A. and pitching in the big leagues. I don't have a set timetable. I'm just going to let it dictate itself."
