It appears as though the Red Sox will formally announce a contract extension with starter Jon Lester on Sunday, more than a week after a report that terms had been agreed upon. Yahoo! Sports reported on March 8 that the parties had agreed to a five-year, $30 million contract that includes a $14 million option for 2014. Lester was scratched from a scheduled start on Saturday at Fort Lauderdale, instead staying in Fort Meyers, the team's spring headquarters. "Anybody prefers that stability and that guaranteed money, so like I said, I'm looking forward to it if we get it done, and like I said before, nothing is finalized and nothing is set in stone," Lester said last Monday.
