Ben Sheets spent Thursday visiting the Rangers in Arlington, Tex., according to major-league sources. Sheets met with Rangers executives, accompanied by his agent Casey Close. Sheets declined the Brewers' offer of salary arbitration and the chance for a raise from his $11 million salary on a non-guaranteed contract. The Mets are among the other clubs interested in Sheets, viewing him as a possible alternative to their top free-agent choice lefty Oliver Perez.
