After meeting with the Marlins' front office in July, the agent for pitcher Dontrelle Willis was encouraged that the team would offer its ace a multiyear contract after the 2005 season. Four months later, agent Matt Sosnick isn't so optimistic. "I'm expecting it to be a one-year deal,'' he said Tuesday. "They don't have a history of doing these types of (long-term) deals (to arbitration-eligible players). My guess is if they haven't done it before, they won't do it now.'' Sosnick, who said he hasn't had any recent conversations with the Marlins, said he has been reading media reports about the team trying to trade key players because of financial problems. Sosnick expects to talk with the team after Thanksgiving, but he said it is too early to determine if he will reach a one-year contract without taking Willis' case to an arbitration hearing.
