The agent for pitcher Justin Duchscherer anticipates that the right-hander and the Athletics will head to arbitration to decide his 2009 salary. "They basically let it be known it's (only) going to be a one-year contract. I wouldn't say I'm optimistic we'd settle on a one-year deal (without arbitration)," agent Damon Lapa said Thursday. Duchscherer went 10-8 with a 2.54 ERA last season while making his second All-Star team. However, he also underwent season-ending right hip surgery for a second straight season. He made $1.2 million in 2008.
