The Yankees aren't the only team waiting to hear from free-agent pitcher CC Sabathia this offseason, as the Brewers await word, as well. "Players who are free agents have gained the opportunity and the right to check around and make the decision whenever they make their decision," Milwaukee GM Doug Melvin said. "We don't hear anything other than what we read in the [media]." The Brewers have been waiting since Nov. 1 for word from Sabathia's camp, after submitting a contract proposal believed to span five years at $100 million. "We haven't heard from them," Melvin said, "and they haven't heard from us. So that's where we stand."
