The Phillies have signed Ruben Amaro to a three-year deal to become the general manager of the team.
Amaro just completed his tenth season as Philadelphia's assistant GM and replaces the retiring Pat Gillick, who will remain with the team as an adviser.
"Pat, you've made it a little tough for me, a tough act to follow," Amaro told Gillick at a news conference.
