The Cubs are intent on keeping GM Jim Hendry in town, and according to sources, are not allowing the Mariners to talk with him about their vacant GM position. The Mariners were hoping that Hendry would be available because this was the last guaranteed year of his contract even though he holds an option for 2009. Seattle has been without a GM since firing Bill Bavasi during the season. Lee Pelekoudas has been filling in on an interim basis.
