The Tampa Bay Rays honored a 12-yard old fan on Saturday after hearing the child was suspended by his school for sporting a mohawk like many players on his favorite team. "The kid got punished for being a Rays' fan," said Jonny Gomes, who contacted Zachary Sharples' family when he heard of the story. "What's wrong with that?" Gomes acquired field passes for Zachary and his father for Game 2 against the Red Sox. "Keep the mohawk, man," right-hander Andy Sonnanstine said, giving Sharples a fist bump. "Hopefully, we've got a Rays' fan for life -- a Jonny Gomes fan for life," Gomes said. "To make the kid's day -- maybe make the kid's year -- is awesome."
