Dioner Navarro singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth on Tuesday night to give the Tampa Bay Rays a 2-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox. The win gives the Rays (89-60) a one-game lead over the Red Sox (89-62) in the loss column in the AL East. Andy Sonnanstine went six innings for the Rays, allowing Kevin Youkilis to hit a sacrifice fly for Boston's only run of the game. Josh Beckett pitched eight strong innings for the Sox, striking out seven and allowing one run on a home run by Carlos Pena in the seventh inning. Justin Masterson pitched in the ninth for Boston, getting the loss. Jason Bartlett singled to start the inning, and Pena followed that up with a walk. Evan Longoria struck out, but Masterson hit Cliff Floyd with a pitch to load the bases for Navarro. The Rays will host the Red Sox in the third game of their three-game series on Wednesday.
