Milwaukee left fielder Ryan Braun admitted on Monday that he expects to have a better second half. Braun didn't exactly struggle in the first half, hitting .286 with 23 home runs and 66 RBIs. He was also named to his first All-Star team. "I think the league constantly makes adjustments to you, especially in your second full season," Braun said. "I continue to go out there and try to make adjustment as well, so I feel like I?ve done okay, but there?s still a lot of room for improvement and I expect to do better in the second half." At the break the Brewers were five games back of the Cubs for first place in the National League Central, but Braun anticipates that his team will make a charge. "I like our chances. You know, early on I think we struggled. But we?ve battled back and have been playing really well over the last month and a half, two months," Braun analyzed. "Obviously, we acquired [C.C.] Sabathia too. Whenever you get a Cy Young winner and add him to your pitching staff, that?s great." However, he's aware making the postseason will be tough in the NL. "It?s definitely going to be a lot of fun. I?m assuming that the race will come down to the last few weeks," Braun mused. "I know we play the Cubs at the end of the year at home, so the second half should be a lot of fun." He also commented on the change in the team since acquiring Sabathia from the Indians last week. "I think we were a really good team prior to acquiring him, and with him we instantly become a great team," Braun said. The acquistion of Sabathia has energized the team, fans and city of Milwaukee. "It's been unbelievable. Just a frenzy. I don?t know if I?ve seen any jersey in my life more than I saw Sabathia on the first day he pitched for us. The fans are certainly fired up, and they should be," he added. "Everybody is excited about it. It?s been, I think 26 years now since we?ve been to the postseason and I think everyone recognizes that we have a really good opportunity to make it this year and we?re going for it," Braun added. "It shows the commitment that the ownership and upper management has to winning, and winning this year, and so for us as players that means a lot."
