The Los Angeles Daily News has learned that Dodgers' owner Frank McCourt nixed a trade that would have brought C.C. Sabathia to the team in the days before the Brewers landed last year's AL Cy Young winner. The Dodgers would have reportedly added third baseman Casey Blake and utility man Jamey Carroll, as well. According to multiple sources, the reason McCourt didn't allow the deal to go down was largely financial. "It's just totally false," McCourt said of the claim. "The players didn't match up, and that's just the way it was." It remains unclear which players the Dodgers would have given up to acquire the trio. "Trades are complicated, and (the Indians) weren't just going to give us three players," McCourt said. "They were asking for something in return. The point being that in this deal, the give and the get just didn't match up."
