Holliday Acknowledges Stay With A's Could Be Short

Matt Holliday doesn't expect to be in Oakland for too long.
As a guest on ESPN's Jim Rome is Burning Tuesday, Holliday told Rome that he doesn't expect to sign a long-term deal with the A's when he becomes a free agent at season's end.
"I don't know. I think you would have to talk to Billy [Beane, A?s GM], Holliday said, "I think he has made it pretty clear that economically, Oakland doesn't necessarily sign free agents to long-term deals.
"I would say the chances aren't too good unless something changes," he continued. "Hopefully, we have a great season this year, and I can be here at least through this year."
Holliday was traded from the Rockies in November for Huston Street, Greg Smith, and Carlos Gonzalez.
He rejected a four-year, $72 million deal to remain with the Rockies last spring.
It is almost certain that Holliday's name will come up over and over again at this year?s trade deadline.
