The Opsera is a statistic RealGM Executive Editor Chris Reina created in order to objectively rank teams by how well they hit (OPS) and pitch (ERA).

In order to determine the Opsera rating for each, we take their OPS, multiply that number by 10 to move the decimal point over one place to the right and then subtract their ERA from that number.

All statistics are through Monday, April 15 games.

Rankings from last week are in parenthesizes.

1. (T5) Atlanta Braves – 5.99

The Braves have surged to first place thanks to their nine-game winning streak.

T2. (2) New York Mets – 4.73

They have an OPS of .816, thanks in large part to the hot hitting of John Buck (19 RBI).

-- (7) Boston Red Sox – 4.73

John Farrell's team has a 2.69 ERA, third-best in the Majors.

4. (T5) Oakland Athletics – 4.65

The Athletics have a +30 run differential and are first in the AL West.
