Earlier in the year the Baltimore Orioles came hard and they came fast. The Orioles were in first place for 3 months to begin the MLB season. That?s right, ahead of our beloved Red Sox and those dreaded Yankees. But in this past month, the Orioles have been slumping while the Sox and Yankees have been cruising. So now it looks like the race is back down to two teams again, the defending champion Sox, and those pesky Yankees. Now I am a big, big Red Sox pessimist. So I am not going to sit here and say that the Boston Red Sox will win the division. But I will say that the Baltimore Orioles as of today, are out of the division race. I know what Orioles fans are saying now, WHAT? When it comes down to it, both the Yankees and Red Sox starting rotation can top the Orioles no problem. Another reason why I count the Orioles out is Sosa and the Orioles outfield. Sammy Sosa has not been the same Sosa he used to be. He?s hitting .273 with 13 HR and 37 RBI?s. Sosa should have been the anchor in that outfield but it didn?t work out. Now all the orioles are left with is a stacked infield with numerous holes in there rotation and there outfield. The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees have one of the most heated rivalries in sports, we all know that. But just when you think the Yankees are out and the Orioles and Sox will be in contention, it all seems to change in a blink of a eye. The Yankees have come back, the Orioles have been slumping, and the Red Sox have been hanging in there. So now it looks like it will again be a two team race, between the New York Yankees and the defending world series champions the Boston Red Sox.
