By Christopher Reina The Opsera is a statistic I created in order to objectively rank teams by how well they hit (OPS) and pitch (ERA). In order to determine a team's Opsera, I take their OPS, multiply that number by 10 to move the decimal point over one place to the right and then subtract the team's ERA from that number. After the second week of play, the top five slots in the Opsera rankings are held by the division leaders, with the A's being the sixth division leader coming in at the eighth position. The Cardinals lead the MLB with a 2.45 ERA, while the Phillies have an MLB-best OPS of .893, ahead of the Yankees at .874 and Dodgers at .869. Houston, ranked last, has an OPS of .539.
