Over the last decade or so, the stolen base has been taken out of the game in part because of the home run. So while we might not see a 100 stolen base season again, it still can play a major role in deciding a playoff series, like it did for the 2003 Florida Marlins. So, does your team run smart? Read on to find out.
1. Philadelphia Phillies (87%)
They are led by shortstop Jimmy Rollins (28/34) and outfielder Shane Victorino (34/37).
2. Arizona Diamondbacks (82%)
The top of the order is very good on the base paths in outfielder Eric Byrnes (39/45) and Chris Young (23/26).
3. New York Mets (82%)
Shortstop Jose Reyes has been caught 17 times, but his great speed has also given him 74 steals and makes him one of the most dangerous players come October.
4. Texas Rangers (81%)
The Rangers are just a good base running team under Ron Washington, having been caught on 18 times in 93 chances.
5. Minnesota Twins (80%)
The team leader in stolen bases is shortstop Jason Bartlett, who is 21 for 24 this season.
6. Boston Red Sox (77%)
The Red Sox aren?t a running team, but outfielder Coco Crisp and shortstop Julio Lugo have added some speed this season.
7. Colorado Rockies (77%)
The Rockies used to be a home run franchise, but new additions in outfielder Willy Tavares and second baseman Kaz Matsui has aided the offensive transition.
8. Baltimore Orioles (77%)
Outfielder Cory Patterson and second baseman Brian Roberts each have over 35 steals this season.
9. San Francisco Giants (77%)
The Giants have only 89 steals as a team, but have been smart when taking their chances.
10. New York Yankees (76%)
Third baseman Alex Rodriguez, outfielder Bobby Abreu and outfielder Johnny Damon have combined to go 66 for 76 in the steals department this year.

The Devil Rays are led by outfielder Carl Crawford, who has 46 steals in 55 chances.
16. Oakland A?s (73%)
Steals are bad according the Billy Beane, which is probably why they have attempted just 64 on the year.
17. Los Angeles Dodgers (73%)
Outfielder Juan Pierre has 53 on the season and catcher Russell Martin has put up a very good number of 21 at the catcher position.
18. Chicago Cubs (73%)
Outfielder Alfonso Soriano hasn?t been as good on the base paths with just 18 steals. This is in part to some injuries this season.
19. Cincinnati Reds (72%)
The Reds are one of the prototypical home run teams in the game. They run very little outside second baseman Brandon Phillips.
20. Los Angeles Angels (72%)
The Angels play an NL style game and are very aggressive, which has led to a somewhat low percentage this year.
21. San Diego Padres (71%)
The Padres have only 52 steals on the year, third lowest in the National League.
22. Milwaukee Brewers (71%)
With a lumbering runner in Prince Fielder, the Brewers play station to station baseball most of the time.
23. Atlanta Braves (71%)
They have struggled to find consistent speed since Rafael Furcal left. They might be better next year if they can retain Willie Harris though.
24. Toronto Blue Jays (69%)
This is another MoneyBall team who has just 65 stolen base attempts on the season.
25. Pittsburgh Pirates (68%)
The Pirates have just 50 stolen bases on the season, second lowest in the National League.
26. Kansas City Royals (66%)
The Braves, the Brewers (Ned Yost) and the Royals (Dayton Moore). It looks like the Braves way isn?t stolen bases.

Outfielder Grady Sizemore hasn?t been a great base runner in 2007 with 29 steals in 39 attempts (74%).
28. Houston Astros (65%)

29. St. Louis Cardinals (64%)
It is a known fact that manager Tony LaRussa doesn?t like to run, as seen in their 69 attempts this season.
30. Chicago White Sox (63%)
Look, the White Sox are at the bottom of another offensive category. However, this one is due in large part to injuries.
