Several of our Top 25 players are prime candidates for post-season AL and NL awards. Will Howard, Pujols, Beltan, or Cabrera take home the NL-MVP? This Week (Last Week) (Statistics through games of September 14) 1.(1.) Ryan Howard: The Phillies are in the Wild Card chase, and Howard is closing in on the NL-MVP. Despite a few more base-on-balls, the 1B now has 56 HR's and 139 RBI's, to go along with a .314 batting average. 2.(2.) Albert Pujols: The first-place Cardinals host the Giants this weekend with Pujols looking to add to his offensive totals (.321, 45 HR's, and 120 RBI's). 3.(3.) Derek Jeter: Jeter is closing in on Joe Mauer for the AL batting title (.346) as well as the AL MVP. 4.(4.) David Ortiz: Ortiz believes he is the AL's choice for MVP (48 HR's, 128 RBI's) 5.(6.) Miguel Cabrera: Cabrera is about to catch Freddy Sanchez for the NL batting title (.338). With the Marlins in the Wild Card hunt, Cabrera is also be counted on to raise his RBI totals (109). 6.(8.) Jermaine Dye: Dye returns to Oakland this weekend in a huge series against the A's (.326, 41 HR's, 114 RBI's). 7.(9.) Johan Santana: Santana improved his record to 18-5 this week for the fast-finishing Twins. He should win the AL Cy Young, plus some consideration for AL MVP. 8.(7.) Carlos Beltran: Beltran and the Mets may clinch the NL-East as early as this Friday night (40 HR's, 114 RBI's). 9.(5.) Alfonso Soriano: Soriano's name will be surfacing all over MLB during the off-season. 10.(10.)
