Pedro Martinez, the charismatic New York Mets pitcher who helped the Boston Red Sox break the ?Curse Of The Bambino? and win the World Series last season has been faking his Puerto Rican accent.
Reports have been confirmed that the ace was actually born in Philadelphia, PN and raised in Wichita, KS.
I tried to get through to Pedro himself to gain clarification on this horrific new discovery; however, he was in full media avoidance mode. I was able to get through to his agent who administered the following statement:
?Reports pertaining to my client, Pedro Martinez, being born in the United States are true. He has been faking this Puerto Rican accent because he felt it was good for business. With the large number of pitchers in the MLB coming from Puerto Rico, he figured it would help his career. He is one-third Puerto Rican though. That is I will be saying on my clients behalf for now.?
There you have it; all those interviews were done in a loveable, yet fake accent. This type of thing has been reported before. We all remember the scandal involving former Seattle Mariner great Edgar Martinez.
The preceding article was a piece of satirical fiction.
