Bob Melvin's job is safe. General partner Jeff Moorad told The Arizona Republic that although the team has performend inconsistently this season, that isn't enough to make the front office consider a managerial change. "Any disappointment we feel is the fault of many, not the manager alone," Moorad told the newspaper. "We have a tremendous amount of faith in Bob's leadership ability, and we're going to make every continued effort to try to bolster the lineup." Moorad told the Republic that although the ownership group is frustrated by the team's performance, everyone remains hopeful that a postseason appearance is still possible. "Everybody worked very hard during the offseason to try to make this team competitive," Moorad told the newspaper. "And we all feel the burden for the results not being there. But we're optimistic that we're still going to be [in the mix] when it's all said and done, and that we'll be there in September."
