Padres General Manager Kevin Towers spoke of re-signing Milton Bradley for 2008. He noted the freakish events that led to the injury: Bradley fell as Black tried to restrain him from charging umpire Mike Winters, who later was suspended. ?He played his heart out for us,? Towers said. ?If he had an interest in coming back, I would have a hard time walking away from him, based on what he did for this organization and the injury and how it happened. ?I don't even know if when he was healthy we would have done something long-term. We probably would have been talking a year or a year with an option.?
