Moises Alou's hitting streak, the longest this city has seen since Joe DiMaggio's record 56-gamer in 1941, ended last night at 30 games. The left fielder went 0-for-3 in the Mets' 3-0 loss to the Cardinals at Shea. "I am disappointed, but not because of the streak," Alou said. "Unfortunately I couldn't get any hits and I couldn't help the team." Alou began his hot streak on Aug.31 at Atlanta and it ended last night with a groundout to the pitcher in the first, a fielder's choice in the fourth and a fly to right in the seventh. Alou would have been the fifth batter in the ninth, but the Mets went down in order.
