Moises Alou extended his hitting streak to 30 games Wednesday night with a home run in the first inning for the New York Mets against the Washington Nationals. Alou's streak is a franchise record and the longest in the major leagues since Willy Taveras also hit safely in 30 straight games for the Houston Astros last season. After getting four hits Tuesday, including a three-run double, Alou began the night batting .400 (46-for-115) during the streak.
