The wait for Roger Clemens continues, with the Yankees hoping he?ll be ready by tomorrow. Joe Torre yesterday juggled the rotation yet again to give the Rocket?s gimpy right hamstring additional rest.
Andy Pettitte will be moved up to face the Blue Jays in today?s series finale, and Clemens would open the three-game set that begins at Tampa Bay tomorrow.
The Yankees originally had hoped Clemens would pitch Saturday, after rookie Ian Kennedy was scratched because of upper-back stiffness.
?I just need to get into game situations,? Clemens said after throwing a side session yesterday. ?And if I feel anything then, I?ve got to be honest. We?re in a real critical point in the season right now. I don?t want to go backwards.?
