The Yankees? rules for using Joba Chamberlain mandate that he not pitch on consecutive days. But there may be an amendment for the postseason. Manager Joe Torre said the Yankees were reconsidering their October plans for Chamberlain. ?They?re talking about that,? Torre said. ?I think a lot of this stuff is based on pitch count.? Torre uses Chamberlain based on guidelines set by the organization?s pitching coordinator, Nardi Contreras. Chamberlain?s father, Harlan, was at Yankee Stadium yesterday and said he would not worry if the Yankees changed how they used his son. ?I think they have his best interests at heart,? he said. ?As long as they convey that and I can see that, I?ve got no problem with anything. He?s here to do a job and if his job is altered from what it?s been, then let it be.?
