Red Sox manager Terry Francona hopes Tim Wakefield can make his next scheduled start after being scratched from Friday night's 9-8 loss to the Orioles with a sore lower back. "Wake's back has been bothering him for a while," Francona said after Boston's fourth straight loss. Wakefield (16-10) is tied for the major league lead in wins. His next start would be Wednesday night at home against Toronto. Julian Tavarez (7-10) started in his place Friday and allowed four runs in 3 1-3 innings.
