Bronson Arroyo was involved in countless trade rumors in July (most notably involving Florida Marlins right-hander A.J. Burnett) but he will be going nowhere this month even if the team continues its efforts to bolster itself before the end of August. Arroyo was one of four Red Sox who didn't clear waivers this month, which withdraws him from consideration for any trade. The only players eligible to be dealt in August are those who clear waivers, unless a trade is worked out with a team staking a claim. Bill Mueller, Mike Myers and Kevin Youkilis were also pulled back after waiver claims were made, making them ineligible to be traded. The Sox haven't sought waivers on several key players, including Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Kevin Millar and Tim Wakefield. Arroyo said he was relieved to hear that he was going nowhere. ``Obviously, I want to play here,'' Arroyo said prior to the Sox' 6-5 loss to the Tigers yesterday. ``This is a ballclub that never gives no-trade clauses, so no one's ever safe, but I guess this is as close as you can get. It's nice to know I'm going to be here.'' Several players coveted by contending teams did not clear waivers and can't be traded. That list includes pitchers Billy Wagner, B.J. Ryan, Jamie Moyer, Ben Sheets, Matt Wise, Eddie Guardado and Miguel Batista.
