The advertised match up of two of the best pitchers in the game, Mark Mulder and Pedro Martinez turned into a high-scoring slugfest. Mulder and Martinez each gave up five earned runs, but neither pitcher got a decision in the Cardinals 7-6 victory over the Mets. Larry Walker pinch-hit in the eighth inning and had a go-ahead sacrifice fly against Roberto Hernandez.
