The Oakland A's today placed shortstop Bobby Crosby on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured left hand and recalled infielder Donnie Murphy from Triple-A Sacramento.
Crosby was hit by a Justin Speier pitch in the eighth inning of the game last night at Los Angeles. He was batting .226 with eight home runs and 31 RBI in 93 games at the time of the injury. This is Crosby's fifth career stint on the disabled list as he was on the DL twice in each of the previous two seasons. He was limited to 96 games last year and 84 games in 2005.
