Brian Sabean and the Giants were closing in Thursday on a new multiyear contract extension for the general manager. An official in MLB familiar with the negotiations, requesting anonymity because the deal had not yet been finalized, said an announcement could come as soon as Friday. Sabean is in his 11th season as GM.
