Cubs president John McDonough deferred to general manager Jim Hendry on Sunday when asked if contract talks with pitcher Carlos Zambrano would reopen. The impending sale of the Cubs by Tribune Co. has thrown a wrench into the talks, meaning it?s more complicated than just Hendry and McDonough talking to Zambrano and agent Barry Praver. ?I think there?s a group of people that are involved,? McDonough said. ?I think we?re seeing the real Carlos Zambrano now after kind of a rough start.? Zambrano was 2-2 with a 5.77 ERA in April, but he has turned things around. His record stands at 8-6 with a 4.27 ERA.
