As the deadline nears for Jason Giambi to decide if he will meet with George Mitchell, lawyers representing the Yankees designated hitter, the Players Association and Major League Baseball are closing in on a deal that would allow him to speak to investigators. Discussions are expected to continue throughout the weekend with an announcement coming possibly as early as Monday. Giambi faces a Wednesday deadline to give Commissioner Bud Selig an answer on his June 6 ultimatum to either talk to Mitchell's investigators or face a disciplinary action, which could be a lengthy suspension.
