It has been established that Mark Cuban, the billionaire entrepreneur who has better thoughts about rescuing the newspaper business than people in the newspaper business, wants to know about other assets Sam Zell and Tribune Co. might include in the Cubs transaction. Surely, he will inquire about the inclusion of Wrigley Field.
Selig is on record that he'd like the deal to be completed by next Opening Day, while Zell and the Tribsters are shooting for the fourth quarter of 2007. Is Cuban curious when the grand plan will be presented to what is expected to be a boatload of potential bidders?
Well, in fact, he is. The projected date is October, he should know.
"Until the package for the Cubs is available, there isn't really anything to comment on," Cuban wrote. "Plus, the financial structure of a deal would be very complicated. So that remains to be seen."
