The Mets lost Shawn Green for the weekend and possibly longer when he broke a bone in his right foot during the Mets' win over the Marlins on Friday night. Green fouled a pitch off the top of his foot in the fifth ining, fracturing the right metatarsal bone. He remained in the game until the ninth inning, when Carlos Gomez replaced him in right field, and left the clubhouse on crutches after the game. Green told reporters that although the foot is sore, he is hopeful he can return to the lineup soon. But in the near-term, he will wear a protective boot on the foot and use crutches.
