Troy Percival met with director of Angels player development Tony Reagins and asked to be released from his minor league coaching contract to pursue his comeback as a player. The club said it will grant the Riverside resident's request. However, that doesn't necessarily mean the team is interested in signing Percival, who holds the team's career saves record. "There's not a reason for us to be looking right now for a guy to help our 'pen," General Manager Bill Stoneman said. Percival, 37, expects to work out for teams in the next two weeks.
