The Braves activated Mark Redman from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's opener of an interleague series with the Red Sox.
Redman had been sidelined since May 2 after needing surgery to deal with an ingrown toe nail.
Signed to a one-year contract in March, Redman is 0-4 with a 10.62 ERA in five starts this season. The verteran is insurance in case John Smoltz can not make his scheduled start on Saturday.
